Well, I’ve been hooked up to SiteMeter since June 5, which should make it about one month now.
So far, I’ve racked up 19,500 plus change in visitors during that time.
I’m not sure if that’s good or not, but I’m fairly impressed.
Majority of other-blog-referrals are by way of Lady Tam over at A View From the Porch, thanks, Tam. Lot of other visitors bounce in from the other linked blogs, appreciate it, guys.
I seem to have regular visitors from all over, including (but not limited to) Baja California, Japan (Hi, Sgt Aytch!), Korea, Sweden and a whole bunch of folks with .gov addresses. Thanks for reading, ladies and gentlemen, the gift of your time is sincerely appreciated.
Mostly seems like the amounts of visits drops during weekends and holidays — as it should.
I don’t quite have a handle on what most of my readers prefer to read, but the buffet-style of blogging (little of this, little of that) I’ve done so far is what I’m comfortable with, so I’m sticking with that.
Just out of curiosity, I’ve noticed that a lot of blogs out there — and some of the most popular blogs — are actually just a collection of links to other blog posts with short descriptions for each link. Is this really what most people want to read in a blog? How odd.
All-in-all, I’m quite pleased with my little blog.
Thanks, folks.

I believe in the K.I.S.S. method. Many blogs are loaded with links, and, well, crap that overloads the eyes.
Keep crafting the stories. They are the reason that I return often.
I love the stories- keep it up!
You just keep doing what you are doing now, LD, it’s dam good! I do so look forward to reading your bit of wit every day, but I still think you enjoy a little too much the: TO BE CONTINUED! (grin) You better give some thought to that book!
Lawdog, I like your style just fine. I do read Michelle Malkin, but she has just way too many links to follow – if I had time to read all that I’d get a job as a political commentator.
Tough to say what my favorite of your posts is, but I’d say that the silliness in your current occupation is the frontrunner.
You’ve identified the two primary and mostly distinct categories of bloggers: Linkers, and Thinkers (HT Steven DenBeste? Can’t find the link). Both serve a function, but readers go to one or the other for different reasons. You’re a thinker, and I really appreciate what comes to us by way of your keyboard. Keep up the excellent (Hilarious!) work.
I check in every week day morning. Wouldn’t miss it! As a long time reader at TFL and THR I’m glad of the blog so I can zero in with out too much searching. Thanks, LD.
I’m not going to be a Japan hit much longer– I have my orders home. Back to Lower Alabama and discharge. Woo-Hoo!
As far as linking goes, I might toss one out once in a while to reinforce a point, as with that Macbeth clown and his overinflated claims of service. That’s about it. I have my own little blog/monkey cage, I’ll fling my own $–# around, thank y’all very much. And thank you, LD, for the material. The next part of your little tale coming along?
Since you’ve been wondering a little about your readers and what they like:
A co-worker has been telling me about you for a while, and about 1 month ago I actually decided to read a few of your stories. You have some AWESOME stories!!!! I would say, keep doing what you’re doing, everyone (including me) seems to really enjoy it. Please don’t let some idiots make you doubt or change what and how you write. (except the more stories you write – the better! 🙂 )
BTW, I originally came here from Poland (LEGALLY!) I grew up in West Texas and went to school in Lubbock. I’ve been trying to figure out where your stories are from, but you’re doing a great job of hiding the locations!
Keep up the great work!
Chris
Hey Dog, that Swedish link was probably me. I happened to have brief internet access during my trip a couple of weeks ago. I just couldn’t stay away from the blogosphere.
I just wish I could write like you. Or maybe have the stories to tell that you do. My personal style is usually a cross between the two styles mentioned by Mr. Anonymous. A link followed by personal commentary. But I think you are much more fun to read.
You’re welcome and thank you.

I like the mix of political, law enforcement and hilarious stories.
Some of your Nigeria stuff reminds me of Patrick McManus.
I think I first got here by links from http://www.accuratereloading.com.
Shooter, I am reading the blog every day from Sweden, so there is at least one regular Swedish visitor.
Keep up the good work.
LD, reading your stories reminds me of being in the field and all the idiots I used to put up with on the street and at the station (and administration). I left in 1997.
I’ll read one of your stories to my wife, then tell her a few of my own. Law enforcement is an unpredictable line of work.
Keep your head down and be safe – keep the stories coming. Ghod, they bring back memories!
Blog = web-log
A log of your web surfing …. so yea, most blogs are links plus descriptions.
The better blogs are one that provide content good enough for others to blog and link to them.
This site has good content. Humor plus rants are always a good draw.
‘Dawg,
You know I stop by just because the stories of your childhood give me hope that some of my hellions might actually make it clear through to adulthood.

“All-in-all, I’m quite pleased with my little blog.”
And we enjoy it too. Thank you.
Love the whole blog. Don’t cange anything… got you address the Mostly Cajun. keep me thinking and laughing, thanks
I like your stories, but I also enjoy your rants on politics as well. You are a good writer whose enthusiasm for the subject matter shows.
Please carry on!
I read you in spite of the fact you’re an agent of the State. Good stories are always worthy, even from State hugging thugs.
🙂

Damn skippy, it’s good. I was tickled pink to bust 14k two months running.
“Majority of other-blog-referrals are by way of Lady Tam over at A View From the Porch, thanks, Tam.”
De nada.
Now about that book you’re gonna write… 😉
Keep up the good work!
Make that at least two regular readers from Sweden.
I found the stories on a forum, and came here to read the rest of them. Read everything in the archives and stayed. 🙂
I like the mix too, and the writing style it’s delivered with.
I found your blog through a forum I belong to (RealPolice.net). One of my favorite posters (Norm) linked you after I asked for some good reading material. As always, Norm was on the money.
Excellent blog, Lawdog.
Your writing, wit and wisdom are perfect; please don’t change a thing.
Your site is always good for a laugh, but an Open Bar would be even nicer.

You’re a skillful, prolific and likeable raconteur. You have the story-telling abilities of Mark Twain and even your rants are congenial and satisfying. What’s more, you have a wealth of real-time experiences to draw upon.
Many times I find myself thinking “I wish I had said that”, but of course I can’t. My life is much more bland than yours.
Don’t ever change. I mean that sincerely.
Not only am I a .gov-er, I work in the… How did you say? Ah yes…”carpet-bagging, mouth-breathing, bunny-hugging, veggie-gnawing, mono-synaptic, close-minded dacoits who are tip-toeing through my fair State like a horde of lobotomized, politically-correct, apron-hanging rhinocerii” environmental industry. Hey, check out my arms – no splinters (not a tree hugger).
Thank you for your blog. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I could just soak up your stories. I hope you do put out that book, so I can see how much I missed out on during my childhood. In fact, depending on the way the wind blows for the “Guest Worker Program” I may be looking for a better home than Cali. You have definitely made me hope I am worthy of living in Texas.
