Jeff Dunham

As we have noted in the past, my sense of humour is a bit … off.

By way of Tolewyn, I have discovered Jeff Dunham, a ventriloquist who seems to have been around for a bit — despite me not ever having heard of him.

Like most vetriloquists, Mr. Dunham has a variety of puppets — Peanut being my absolute favorite.

Until a little bit ago.

Gentle Readers, I give you … Achmed the Dead Terrorist!

Be advised that some of the language is not ‘G’ rated, and some of the subject matter covered probably isn’t for kids.

I, however, snickered for most of the ten minutes of this video.

Enjoy!

  1. I can NOT believe nobody has commented on the B.Doolittle stuff. She is a terrific artist isn’t she????

  2. Achmed comes from the show ‘Spark of Insanity’, which is on DVD. You can get it, along with his other show, ‘Arguing with Myself’ at Walmart. The Arguaing with Myself show has an outake with Peanut that will have you more than snickering…..

If you can, try to find a clip with Melvin the Superhero. After Peanut, that one is my favorite.

  3. The “Spark of Insanity” DVD also has an extra of Walter announcing his bid for the Presidency. Well worth purchasing.

  4. HAHAHAHAHA!! Heeheeheehee! Whooo! That was awesome. I totally love the “SILENCE!! I kill you!!” part.

  5. Oh, man! I never saw “Achmed” before! THANK YOU! I think I still like Walter best, but this is a VERY close second!

  6. Strange. I discovered Jeff Dunham this weekend on Comedy Central. I haven’t decided if I like Walter or Peanut better.

  7. He’s great, and has been for a LONG time. My wife and I first caught one of his shows at the Minnesota State Fair…where it was free. I’m thinking that this had to be something like 10 or 12 years ago, and his career was just starting to take off.

We wandered into the show, and he had us in stitches almost immediately. The crowd, on the other hand, was appalled by “Jalapeno on a Stick”, and you could see him adjusting his show, on the fly, to meet the expectations of the politically-correct crowd that he was facing.

We just thought he was devastatingly funny, and have followed his shows ever since. We’re hoping that the Comedy Central show will prove to be his big breakthrough.

  8. Ummm… SNICKER? I’m late for work, and I think I just crapped myself! OMG, I’m laughing so hard I just separated two ribs!

    THANK YOU THANK YOU!

    i keeel you!

  9. He used to do a lot more with involving the audience when he played to smaller crowds.

Went to see him with some family when the Mall of America used to have a comedy club, and he zeroed in on my Uncle unmercifully.

I think my sides hurt for a week after that one.

  10. I believe this “youtube” is highly offensive to the Semtex-American community and an apology is required.

  11. Oh, my. Just discovering Dunham?

I’m happy that you’ve discovered him, and sorry you hadn’t known of him.

Back in the day… we had cable! in the new college dorms. A&E used to have the afternoons with standup…

College kids, Cable!(the 4 of us grew up outside of cable range), no-class afternoons, funny stuff, you can draw the picture.

One day, we caught the back 1/2 of his show, and were rolling. But we didn’t catch his name! Just.. Jeff, somebody and PEANUT!

A few weeks later, he walked onto another standup show, and as soon as they said “and.. PEANUT!” my roomate and I jumped up and started running around the room. Much to the consternation and confusion of my girlfriend sitting there.

I ran into my room, grabbed a videotape I knew was safe to record on, ran back into the common room, did a picture-perfect baseball slide in front of the TV (on the carpet, no less!), and slapped the tape into the VCR and hit “PLAY and RECORD”.

Total time, under 10 seconds. Watched, laughed, kept telling gf to hush and watch, we’d explain afterward.

    Hey LawDawg? NNnNNNNNNNNnnnnnnneeeeeeaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!

  12. I somehow acquired two DVD’s of “Arguing With Myself”, absolutely hilarious stuff. Let me know if you’d like a copy. 🙂

  13. Glad you finally discovered the genius of Jeff Dunham. I have been a fan of his since Jr. High school when he used to perform in the talant shows. Go to his website and you can see some classic clips of him with Johnny Carson.

  14. What a small world.. I was JUST watching that (must have been a repeat) last night!

  15. I was fortunate enough to see Jeff live at my University. He is truly a stitch. Be warned, however, that of his 2 DVDs, Talking To Myself is the funnier. He just lets loose and it’s a riot. The out-takes are even funnier.

    Highly recommended viewing. 🙂
