Just out of curiosity, what would my Gentle Readers feel about The LawDog Files being rendered as a graphic novel?
I ask, because the publisher of my little scribblings has started a one week contest to produce one or more graphic novels from a list of titles.
The idea being that you donate money to the project — the more money you donate, the more bennies you get — and those who donate money will vote on which title from the list will become a graphic novel.
While my first book is on the list, any of the books there would be a fantastic as a comic book.
If you’re interested, pop over and take a look.
LawDog
In case nobody told you, 'Dog, you write in fluent graphic novel.
The Pink Gorilla Suit, The Santa Clause Caper, and dozens more, translate to comic book panels with caption balloon storyboards in about 0.2 seconds.
I'll even wager any ten of your readers could send you the first one, finished to DC/Marvel standards, by a week from Tuesday, if they'd only the inclination.
Which, to give you fair warning, makes the transition from that point to the actual silver screen about as hard as moving from 2 to 3 on a hopscotch course.
Go for it.
It looks like it's almost up to two novels now. Hard choices before, with the Dog stacked up against Peter Grant and John C. Wright.
I agree with Aesop, the stories translate to mental and graphic images real fast. But, it better be easier than hopscotch after Two Beers.
1. THANK YOU for spelling it "bennies" rather than "benes" which I read as 'beans'.
2. Perhaps it's a sign of age, or of something else, but the side-effect of reading 'bennies' is wondering about 'dexies'. (And no, I never did either. I didn't even take everything I was prescribed – that Vicodin got turned in for disposal. Never had a pain that warranted it, for which I am grateful.)
3. As Aesop said… you're already most of the way there. You just have 'verbal' storyboards.
Heh, now THAT would be interesting…
Meh. I'm not a graphic novel fan. I have a great imagination, and when reading your stories, it's very easy to paint a mental image of the characters and especially the action. It's kind of like the difference between reading a book and watching a movie – the mental imagery is always far, far richer for me while reading the book.
On the other hand, methinks that book publishers know a lot more about making money from stories than I ever will.
Oh, my. Pictures of the Pink Gorilla caper, the Santa ice show, even the old gentleman making his way back home, would be a lovely addition to the Law Dog Files.
I'm in…
Any of the stories in the books, and quite a few that weren't, would make great graphic novels. Just the other day I was thinking how great a series of graphic novels could be made of LawDog's stories of his childhood.
Second Paw for the Graphic Novelization of Africa Tales!!!
woem/THR
The Pink Gorilla Suit rendered in graphic form would be EPIC! As would several others like Treed, The Big Mama and family sagas, and every-bloody-one of the Africa stories. DO IT!
Assassinated gnomes!
Your stories are good enough they'll work in any format. I was very happy with the audiobook.
