Ugh

The older I get the more I hate change.

As you may have noticed people have been playing silly buggers with my blog — and “people” I mean my hosting company, Epik.

Couple of years ago I asked y’all to donate to a fund to buy Epik’s Forever Hosting plan, so that this blog would be hosted, well … forever.

Epik has reneged on that plan, and I’ve got until 17 JAN 25 to find alternate hosting, or start coughing up a monthly payment — and much as I like this blog, it doesn’t make monthly payment amounts of dosh.

We’ve been discussing options, and the plan we’re going is to move this blog to the Raconteur Press server as an archive; and move the blogging over to Substack.

If you’re interested, my Substack site is:
The Bugscuffle Gazette

I’ve already started doing some writing over there, and I’ve scheduled some classic posts to be released every Thursday, as long as people like them.

Sigh. I hope this lasts longer than the last change did.

  1. And of course, suing them for breach of contract costs more than it’s worth. As usual.

What do we call it when not only are there no adverse consequences to bad behavior, but bad behavior has actual incentives?

Anyways, Happy new Year! May the coming year be better than the last.

  2. Happy new year!
I’ll go check out your substack.

  3. Have you checked out Nyx.net? I don’t know what their bandwidth limitations are, but I’ve had an account there since the late 80’s I think? Very long time.

  4. Ugh. Substack sucks from a reader perspective, but I cannot blame you. Sounds they are are Epik Dumbkopfs and Epik FAILURE. #EPIKFAILURE
