“Your silent tents of green
We deck with fragrant flowers;
Yours has the suffering been,
The memory shall be ours.”
— Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Happy Memorial Day, Gentle Readers. LawDog
Why do we grieve that their place in the rolls of honor is assured?
Then take this day and allow us to weep, that we may wipe our eyes tomorow and redeem ourselves of this debt.
In memorium and in hope.

To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
In Flanders Fields by John McCrae
As a brand new Army Mom (As of 5/25), I was more than a little proud to see my only son take up the call and serve his country. I heard today through another list that Cindy Sheehan is giving up her fight to publicly denounce the war in Iraq. Our soldiers have enough to go through without her trying to turn this war into the public ridicule of another Vietnam. Her lost son would have understood that. Perhaps time will help her to see as well. Tracey

Amen.
To those whose gift to us has been everything.
Theirs is Valhalla, ours the Earth.
Why do we grieve that their place in the rolls of honor is assured?
Then take this day and allow us to weep, that we may wipe our eyes tomorow and redeem ourselves of this debt.
In memorium and in hope.
