  1. I find the text description of the protest in the video to be amazing. A humanitarian aid shipment to Gaza is a shipment to Hamas? That'd be like saying a shipment of relief supplies to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is supporting street gangs…because they'd get food too.

  2. Yeah, Bergman, that would be the same IF all of the residents in NO supported the idea that the US was the devil and needed to be destroyed. ('Course the fact that most of the trash in NO are democraps and probably DO believe that does kind of reduce the impact of my remark.

  3. Quoting from the article CalvinsMom linked: "a supply of weapons including knives, Molotov cocktails, detonators, wood and metal clubs, slingshots and rocks, large hammers and sharp metal objects"

Odd that there are no guns, missiles, or explosives listed there. Aside from the detonators and slingshots, I have everything the story listed in my garage. A fuel can for my lawn mower, empty bottles in the recycling bin, my father's carpentry tools (hammers and sharp metal objects). I also own golf clubs, and it's not unusual at all for a ship to carry rocks as ballast.

The list of things found in the "weapons cache" makes me very suspicious. It reads like someone trying to justify a search & seizure, by listing every possible use of innocuous objects.

  4. I heard a distinct clanging sound while that young man was walking. Well done, my young Hebrew friend.

  5. Bergman:

The IDF told them to heave to for blockade inspection, one that the last UN treaty allowed them to do. They attacked the inspectors.

The proper naval procedure for dealing with such an incident is to stand off and sink the vessel.

    Deal with it, hippie.

  6. Gee, Bergman, you missed the next sentence in that same paragraph:

"In addition gas masks were found, pointing to the prior intention of the ship's passengers to use violence against IDF soldiers who would then be forced to use riot dispersal methods."

Hmmm. Sounds like the whole thing was set up as a trap, doesn't it?

"That'd be like saying a shipment of relief supplies to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is supporting street gangs…because they'd get food too."

Only if the gangs were the government of New Orleans.

"The proper naval procedure for dealing with such an incident is to stand off and sink the vessel.

    Deal with it, hippie."

    +1

  7. "Aside from the detonators and slingshots, I have everything the story listed in my garage"
    -Bergman

The Koranimals have something you do not have, specifically motive, opportunity and intent to do bodily harm to others. Well, that and a steady supply of semtex underoos. Which, oddly enough, require….wait for it…..DETONATORS.

  8. A test run with miscellanious items could set the stage for a run with weapons later, after Israel stopped the blockade due to international pressure.
I noticed the young woman was very clear that Isreal did not have the right to exist as a state. It is impossible to compromise with people who are unwilling to compromise. When asked, the young man admitted to no knowledge of the nation of Isreal (Judea) and tried to claim that Isreal only existed since 1948.
    This is utter nonsense.
Did you know that there never was a palistinian nation.
The Romans renamed Judea and called it the province of palistine in order to end the constant revolts by the jews who lived there. The British merely continued usage of that name.
The displaced people after the 1948 war (which they started) were from Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and the Lebanon. Those 4 countries did nothing to help resettle their own people, rather, they kept them in camps for political purposes in the hope of eventually causing public opinion to destroy Israel.
Name one country which would allow a ship to land or break their blockade without legitimate documents to account for their arrival. We intersept Hatians on the high seas and send them back, as does every european country with their illegal aliens.
That young man had a brass set, and good on him. We need more like him and I for one feel that there are a lot more like him.

  9. OK, Lawdog, I'd like to play Devil's Advocate for a moment and take a look at the symbolism of this event. First, we have the usual suspects (Palestinians, terrorist supporters, terrorist wanna-be's, commies) trying to get themselves on the news with their usual crap. Then we have the lone Israeli supporter calmly stepping into the ring and waving a flag in front of the bull. Finally, we have the LA cops stepping up to protect the outnumbered Israeli from his own potentially poor judgement. Sounds a whole lot like politics in the ME, with the US playing the Globo-cop. The only thing missing from this drama would have been the Israeli armed with an Uzi and a nuke – ready to flatten all comers. If this event had turned violent, with cops hurt, who do you think the media would have blamed for provoking an incident? I admire the boys' courage and committment; and would have been glad to stand beside him at all costs, but as a former soldier I'm glad for him that the cops were also there and things didn't turn ugly.

  10. OK Alan,

If one is engaged in "peaceful protest" why should that evoke violence? The lone Jewish demonstrator had ABSOLUTELY as much right to be at that place and at that time as all the Pro-Palestinian protesters. He did nothing to directly incite anyone, he merely "showed the flag" to express his side of the argument.

Your scenario is exactly why the U.S. MUST play "Globocop" in the Middle-east, on a smaller scale and if the cops weren't there and he WAS attacked (and you and I both know he would have been, because the "usual suspects" love a lop-sided fight)I could only hope he would be well- armed enough to turn the tide of battle as it were.

  11. I'm a hippie because I think it's suspicious that someone bragging about a seizure of a "weapons cache" and trying to justify it, doesn't cite even one firearm being seized?

Kristopher: Stopping and searching a foreign flagged vessel in international waters (regardless of where they are going) is either an act of war or an act of piracy, depending on how you look at it. It might even be both. Recall the line from the USMC anthem about the halls of Tripoli; The reason for being in those halls was that the government they were attacking was doing just what the Israelis just did, and refused to stop. And the Israelis make a habit of this sort of thing (even on US vessels).

Jake: I have never attacked a cop or soldier (aside from my ex-brother in law, after he hit my little sister) in my life. I semi-regularly participate in protest rallies in my home town (usually on Constitutional issues). I own a gas mask, due to the police tendency to encircle crowds, order them to disperse without giving them any way to do so, then tear gas them when they don't disperse. By strict reading of local laws, my possession of it is illegal. But I also have a right to gather with like-minded individuals, and peacefully protest things I dislike. Having a defense against improper use of force may be illegal, but it's not immoral, nor does it signify an intent to commit violent acts.

I'm a hippie for supporting the Constitution and being suspicious of what looks like a desperate attempt to justify high seas piracy (they'd have been better off with "no comment", given the list they gave the pro-Israel media, of items seized from the "weapons cache"). There's a word for people who blindly follow a tyrannical government, and it fits you guys better than hippie fits me. Fascist.

  12. "The reason for being in those halls was that the government they were attacking was doing just what the Israelis just did, and refused to stop."

You're comparing apples to paper-clips. There's a big difference between what the Israelis are doing (enforcing a naval blockade against a country that's constantly attacking them) and what Tripoli was doing (capturing merchant ships and holding their crews for ransom).

The Israelis established the blockade to prevent weapons items from being brought into Gaza, because Gaza has a tendency to use those weapons to kill Israelis.

"But I also have a right to gather with like-minded individuals, and peacefully protest things I dislike. Having a defense against improper use of force may be illegal, but it's not immoral, nor does it signify an intent to commit violent acts."

And if they wanted a peaceful protest, they could have done what the other 6 ships in the flotilla did and been, you know, peaceful.

What these people did is like if you were participating in your "peaceful" protest and tried to cross the police line, then knifed the officer that tried to stop you. They deliberately performed an action they knew would draw the Israelis into boarding them, and immediately attacked the soldiers when they did.

If I deliberately incite you to attack me, and then shoot you, I don't get to claim self-defense. That is exactly what these people tried to do. They don't deserve any support for their actions, or any sympathy.

  13. YES…CLANKS when he walks. Good on him.

As Leslie Gelb, former president of the Council on Foreign Relations, writes, the blockade is not just perfectly rational, it is perfectly legal. Gaza under Hamas is a self-declared enemy of Israel — a declaration backed up by more than 4,000 rockets fired at Israeli civilian territory. Yet having pledged itself to unceasing belligerency, Hamas claims victimhood when Israel imposes a blockade to prevent Hamas from arming itself with still more rockets.

Lets look at it another way, If the Arab states would stop trying to erase Israel from the face of the earth (STATED goals of SEVERAL orgs and states), dismantle the "refugee" camps and absorb the "palestinians" back into arab society instead of leaving them as a festering pack of pariahs, unwanted by their own people, and not trusted by the Israelis due to their continued actions then MAYBE you would see Israel soften its stance and relax. As long as the shellings and rocket attacks and homicide bombings continue, there will be no peace.

Its all well fine and dandy that some of the Arab nation-states are trying to get things tamped down…they found that the applications of conventional military strength agianst Israel was not working. There is no mention of Calming the continued predations of Hamas, Hezbola, Fatah – the PLO(in its various incarnations), Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the syrian backed forces….

    Hamas:
Hamas' official covenant advocates the destruction of the state of Israel and its replacement by a theocracy run under Islamist principles with Jerusalem as the capital.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad :Their goal is the destruction of the state of Israel and its replacement with a Palestinian Islamic state.

Fatah: Its main goal, as stated in Article 12 of the official Fatah constitution is the "complete liberation of Palestine."

Heck the Arabs KILLED the last leader to make true overtures of peace…Anwar Sadat!

    Let them loose…Not a chance

  14. Thanks for posting this, Dog. I see so much bashing of Israel for having the temerity to exist and keep on existing, to win and keep on winning, to defend itself from those whose avowed purpose is to wipe her off the map. I get incredibly frustrated at the continuing media presentation of Israel as the Big Bad Bully. They have an area of land smaller than New Jersey, and a population of 7.5 million, compared to the Arab countries that surround them. They bought and paid for that land – every inch of it. The reason the Arabs keep screaming about "pre-1967 borders is that that was the war in which Israel reclaimed some of what was supposed to be theirs from the beginning, and was lost in the 1956 war. I have no idea how to fight that skewed view, but it's very good to see a bunch of people who don't buy into it.

  15. Bergman,

Two problems with your craven supportr of terrorists:

    1. The terrorist suppliers were offered the opportunity to dock at EITHER an Egyptian OR an Israeli port, and have 100% of the "humanitarian supplies" trucked to Gaza. Only they would have to permit the nation they landed in to examine the cargo to ensure it really WAS all humanitarian supplies. They refused the offer, and neither Egypt nor Israeel were willing to let them land UNINSPECTED and send the stuff to Gaza. Because of the rather extensive history of these people shipping weapons under the guise of "humanitarian supplies", or even "evacuation of wounded".

    2. DETONATORS. Frankly, making explosives is pretty easy – good reliable detonators are not only tough to make, but they are critical to building reliable ordnance and terrorist bombs. Is Gaza really so short on "humanitarian" detonators?

Hey, we get it. Blinding bigotry and hatred of Israel.

  16. This kid is AWESOME! I am going to share this video with everyone I know! Once again the "Religion of Peace" shows its true colors. Israel was completely in its right to stop that vessel on a direct course into the blockade. When it boarded the vessel (non too tactically I might add) they were immediately attacked by fire bombs, metal poles and knives. All of which deserves immediate deadly force in self defense. These clowns out there marching around don't even know what they are protesting… especially that loud mouthed chick… maybe if she left the US and had to cover her head and be locked up in a house all day (with no cell phone like her girlfriend standing behind her) she would be singing a different tune.

  17. I find it amusing that about 90% of these Palestinian, Arab, whatever they choose to call themselves, ANYTHING but Israelis, had to leave the US of A and actually LIVE in the countries that they cry so loudly about, that they wouldn't last 5 seconds.

Matter of fact, I'd be willing to bet over half of 'em would be willing to convert to Judaism on the spot just to get the hell out of there again…

    It makes me snicker…..

  18. HAZAK UBARUCH for that young man.Our most reliable and strong ally in Israel is G'd himself. Let the world spew venom and spit to Jerusalem and yell crap, it is the Almighty who will eventually come and save its chosen people

  19. Wow, that kid was AWESOME! He shows all of us who really care that you have to stand up and say what is right, or the forces of evil will be the only ones heard…I believe it was Edmund Burke who said something like "all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing". Well, that kid did what he could, good on him.
