Nana
She was born a doctors daughter in small town Texas, at a time when vehicular horse-power meant you had a horse attached to the front of your vehicle.
She was a school teacher, a librarian, and she sponsored the school newspaper, touching literally thousands of students lives — and outlived many of her students.
She is preceded by her husband, her son-in-law and all of her brothers and sisters; and she is survived by her daughter, two grandsons and a granddaughter.
Rest in peace, Gran. I love you.

While it's true that everyone has to go sometime it's also true that those who are left behind don't have to like it.

LBC and Family
My condolences on the death of your Nana. She appears to have packed a lot of living into long life. The Gospel of Matthew gives some comfort: "22:32. I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead but of the living."
Someday, if you behave, you WILL see your Nana again, with your own eyes. And she'll welcome you to the same embrace if Christ in which she lives.

Lawdog –
Here's something that a friend sent me after the death of my daughter – I hope that it helps give a measure of peace:
"May the peace she knows now come to you soon; may her smile be brightest in your memory when it's the hardest, and may the wind sing memories alive of her laughter."
Please accept my most sincere condolences for yourself and your family.

She, and you and yours, will be in my prayers, Dawg.
Sorry to hear it Mr. Dog.
From what little bit you showed of her in past posts I've come to the conclusion that she was quite the lady. I think we're all a little poorer with out her.
Be safe and know a lot of folks are sending a positive thought your way.

My condolences to you and your family
Dawg, my sincerest condolences to you and to your family. May she rest in peace.
My condolences, LD, to you and your family.
My sympathies to you and your family. I know how hard it is to say goodbye to the older folks, no matter how long they live, but that is part of life – a part that they understand better than we.
Don't think or worry that you'll ever forget her. My paternal grandfather died 33 years ago, and I still think about him nearly every day. I also think about my maternal grandmother, who died at 90 9 years ago when I was 41. Their memories live in you, and you will pass them to your kids and grandkids – and that's the best honor you can do for them, that and actually living as a decent human being (and I have no doubts about you doing that).
Wish there was more than thoughts and prayers we could do at this time, but know that you and your family have those in abundance.
Our prayers are with you and your family. May God grant you peace and comfort.
From your many posts she sounded like a wonderful person.
Eric got it right…Nana did a lot with that dash. Judging from her descendants, I'd say she must have been one of the Lord's brightest stars.
You and yours are in my prayers.
Heart felt condolences.

LawDog, I am so very sorry. I loved reading your stories about Nana; she's the kind of old lady I want to be when I get (chronologically) older. She was a grand woman, and I wish I'd had the opportunity to know her in person, rather than just your writings. I hope, when you can, to hear a few more stories about this excellent lady. We'll all be keeping you and yours in our prayers.
Another thought has occurred to me.
It showed a lot of trust and respect of your readership to share this bit of your personal life at what can only be a rough time.
Based on the preceding fifty odd comments I'd say you judged pretty well.
Thank you for that sir.

My condolences, 'Dog.
It sounds like your Nana had a full life, and few regrets. In the end, that's not a bad way to go, at a hundred and change, surrounded by your loved ones. May we all be so lucky.

I'm sorry, Lawdog. I love to read about your grandmother, and I hate that you lost her.

My condolences to you and yours…she was a grand lady.
I am late to the "party", but Nana isn't. My sympathy to you and yours. I am sure that is tougher on you lot who remain than Nana who is likely visiting happily with those who have gone before.
Prayers from her, LD.
